How to Export Mileage Reports for Tax Purposes

MileEZ makes it easy to export your mileage logs in multiple formats, perfect for tax filing, expense reimbursement, or record keeping.

Available Export Formats

MileEZ supports three export formats:

  • PDF: Professional formatted reports with summary and trip details
  • CSV: Spreadsheet format compatible with Excel, Google Sheets

Exporting Your Mileage Report

On iOS

  1. Open MileEZ and tap the Trips or Mileage screens
  2. Press the meatball menu in the top right and press export
  3. Select your desired pre-selected date period
  4. Optional: Filter by trip type (Business, Personal, or All)
  5. Choose your format:
    • PDF for printing or email
    • CSV for spreadsheets
  6. Tap the Export button
  7. Select how to share:
    • Save to Files
    • Email directly
    • Share to other apps

iOS Pro Tip: You can save reports directly to your iCloud Drive for easy access across all your devices.

On Android

  1. Open MileEZ and tap the Trips or Mileage screens
  2. Press the meatball menu in the top right and press export
  3. Select your desired pre-selected date period
  4. Optional: Filter by trip type (Business, Personal, or All)
  5. Choose your format:
    • PDF for printing or email
    • CSV for spreadsheets
  6. Tap the Export button
  7. Select how to share:
    • Save to Downloads folder
    • Email directly
    • Upload to Google Drive
    • Share to other apps

Android Pro Tip: Exported files are automatically saved to your Downloads folder for quick access.

What's Included in Reports

Your exported mileage report includes:

Summary Section

  • Total miles driven
  • Date range covered
  • Odometer reading before and after

Detailed Trip List

  • Date and time of each trip
  • Start and end locations
  • Distance traveled
  • Trip type (Business/Personal)
  • Purpose/notes (if added)

Tax Deduction Tips

For tax purposes, make sure to:

  1. Classify Trips Correctly: Mark business vs personal trips
  2. Add Trip Purposes: Include brief descriptions (e.g., "Client meeting," "Sales call")
  3. Export Regularly: Generate monthly or yearly reports
  4. Keep Records: Save exported reports for your tax records

HMRC & IRS Compliance

MileEZ reports include all information required by:

  • HMRC (UK): Meets HMRC mileage log requirements
  • IRS (US): Complies with IRS mileage deduction rules

  1. Check Storage: Ensure you have enough space on your device
  2. Update the App: Make sure you're running the latest version
