Getting Started with MileEZ
Welcome to MileEZ! This guide will help you set up the app and start tracking your mileage in just a few minutes.
Step 1: Download and Install
Download from App Store
- Open the App Store on your iPhone
- Search for "MileEZ"
- Tap Get to download
- Once installed, tap Open
MileEZ requires iOS 17.0 or later.
Download from Google Play
- Open Google Play Store
- Search for "MileEZ"
- Tap Install
- Once installed, tap Open
MileEZ requires Android 9.0 or later.
Step 2: Create Your Account
When you first open MileEZ, you'll see a welcome screen:
- Tap Get Started
- Choose your sign-in method:
- Continue with Apple (iOS only)
- Continue with Google
- Email and password
- Follow the prompts to complete registration
Step 3: Grant Permissions
After signing up, you'll go through a guided permission flow. For MileEZ to work properly, you'll need to grant certain permissions:
iOS Permissions
Location Access (Required)
- Tap Allow when prompted
- Choose Always Allow for automatic tracking
- Or choose While Using for manual tracking only
Motion & Fitness (Recommended)
- Improves automatic drive detection
- Helps distinguish driving from other activities
Notifications (Optional)
- Get trip reminders and alerts
- Receive lease mileage warnings
Android Permissions
Location Access (Required)
- Select Allow all the time for automatic tracking
- Or Allow only while using the app for manual tracking
Physical Activity (Recommended)
- Improves drive detection accuracy
- Helps filter out non-driving movement
Notifications (Optional)
- Trip start/stop notifications
- Lease mileage alerts and reminders
Step 4: Set Up Your First Vehicle
After completing the permission flow, you'll see a welcome screen with a "Set Up Your Vehicle" button:
- Tap Set Up Your Vehicle
- Enter your vehicle details:
- Make and Model (e.g., "Toyota Camry")
- Year (optional)
- Current Odometer reading
- License Plate (optional)
- If you have a lease, toggle Lease Vehicle Yes and enter:
- Lease Start Date
- Lease End Date
- Annual Mileage Allowance
- Tap Save to continue
You can add more vehicles later from the Add Vehicle button in the center button menu.
Step 5: Configure Tracking Settings
- Go to Settings > Tracking
- Choose your tracking mode:
- Automatic: Starts tracking when you drive (recommended)
- Manual: You control when to start/stop
- Set your default trip type:
- Business (for work-related trips)
- Personal (for personal trips)
- Ask Every Time (you choose for each trip)
Step 6: Take Your First Trip
If Using Automatic Tracking
Simply start driving! MileEZ will:
- Detect when you begin your trip
- Track your route and distance
- Stop when you arrive
- Save your trip automatically
If Using Manual Tracking
- Before you start driving, open MileEZ
- Tap the Start Tracking button in the center button menu
- When you arrive, tap Stop Tracking
- Review and save your trip
Understanding the Dashboard
Your MileEZ dashboard shows:
Lease
- Total Miles: Estimated Odometer reading
- Days Remaining: Number of days left on your lease
- Mileage remaining: Mileage left from your allowance
- Recommended Daily: The recommended daily mileage to target to help you remain within your allowance
- Overage cost: Projected overage cost at the end of your lease (Based on continued driving)
- Mileage at end of lease: Projected end mileage at the end of your lease
- Overage cost: Price per Mile/Kilometer for overage
Next Steps
Now that you're set up, explore these features:
- View Trip History: See all your past trips
- Export Reports: Generate mileage logs for taxes
- Set Up Schedules: Automate business trip detection
- Add Multiple Vehicles: Track different cars, vans or motorbikes
- Customize Settings: Never forget to log with daily reminders, be reminded of your lease end date and many more
